Frederick Funston
Frederick Funston was the Army general during 1906. He made most of the fire decisions since the fire chief was unconscious. One of his decisions was to create firebreaks by using dynamite to blow up houses. His logic was if the fire doesn't have anything to burn, it will burn itself out. The dynamite caused new fires and made it worse. Eventually, he stopped the fire and saved the city. |
