Why it happened
When the San Andreas fault snapped, it caused a lot of damage because San Francisco sits directly on top of the fault. It caused fires were caused when broken gas lines mixed with sparks from broken electric poles. When that happens, it causes fire. San Francisco was vulnerable to fire because of high winds, being very dry, having steep hills, and having buildings made out of wood.
